About Our Wellington Builders
Straight-talking builders who care about the details
Studs Up Building is a Wellington-based building company specialising in substantial home renovations, alterations, kitchens, bathrooms, decks, and outdoor projects.
Owner-led from beginning to end
Established in 2018, the business was built around a straightforward idea: Do the work properly, communicate honestly, and take responsibility for the finished result.
Studs Up Building is led by Mark, an experienced builder who remains involved throughout every project. He is the person you speak with during the initial planning stage, the person who helps define the work, and the person actively overseeing and completing the build.
This owner-led approach creates clearer communication, stronger accountability, and greater consistency across the project. You always know who is responsible for the work and who to speak to when decisions need to be made.
We work primarily with homeowners who are planning meaningful improvements to their property. This may be a full-home renovation, a multi-room upgrade, a major alteration, or a combination of interior and exterior work.
More planning. Fewer surprises.
Renovations can change as work progresses, particularly in older homes.
Once walls, floors, or exterior cladding are opened, hidden issues can become visible. These may include rot, leaks, structural damage, poor earlier repairs, or materials that are no longer performing as they should.
While no builder can guarantee that every hidden issue will be visible before work starts, careful scoping can reduce uncertainty.
We look closely at the existing home, raise concerns early, and provide practical advice before important decisions are made.
We would rather have an honest conversation at the beginning than ignore a likely issue to make a quote look cheaper.

Our approach
Accuracy matters
Good building depends on getting the details right.
We plan carefully, measure accurately, and take the time to complete each stage properly.
No compromise on quality
We do not believe in rushing work or leaving problems for someone else to resolve later.
Our aim is to deliver a finished result that performs well, looks right, and stands up over time.
Clear communication
Renovations involve many moving parts.
We keep clients informed, explain issues in straightforward language, and discuss changes before moving ahead.
Practical advice
Every renovation involves choices.
We help clients understand what is essential, what may add value, and where design or budget decisions could create complications later.
Wellington experience
Local homes have their own challenges.
From steep sites and difficult access to wind, moisture, and ageing building materials, Wellington projects benefit from builders who understand the local environment.

Trusted people around the project
A successful renovation often requires more than a builder.
Depending on the scope, your project may involve an architect, engineer, electrician, plumber, joiner, roofer, painter, flooring specialist, or other trades. Studs Up Building works with trusted professionals and can help bring the right people into the project at the right stage. Where architectural input is required, we recommend involving an architect early so the design, budget, functionality, and buildability can be considered together.
